Gulmarg is a popular hill station. It is famous as a popular skiing destination and a notified area committee in the Baramulla district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The town is found in the Pir Panjal Range. This range exists in the western Himalayas. It is a perfect place to visit in summers to surround yourself with the scenic beauty of Himalayas.
Gulmarg Gondola is one of the main attractions of Gulmarg. It is the second-highest cable car in the world. The Gondola ride gives a person the most extravagant views of Gulmarg and Khilanmarg combined. The two-stage gondola lift can carry about 600 people per hour to and from Kongdoori Mountain. The ropeway project is a joint venture of the Jammu and Kashmir government and French firm Pomagalski and is very famous among tourists.
Khilanmarg is a small yet beautiful valley. It is about 6 kilometers away from the Gulmarg. It is like a little paradise. It is carpeted with flowers of varied colors in spring and this changes into a skier’s dream destination in the winters. The meadow is carpeted with flowers in the spring. It is the site for Gulmarg’s winter ski runs. It offers a view of the surrounding peaks and over the Kashmir Valley. The view from here spans from the Himalayas from Nanga Parbat to the twin 7,100 meters peaks of Nun and Kun to the southeast.
3. Alpathar Lake
The lake is situated at the foot of Apharwat peak. It is a one day trek from Gulmarg. The lake stays frozen during winters and offers striking scenic views. Ducks are seen walking instead of swimming. Large chunks of ice float in the lake and looks beautiful.
4. Maharani Temple
It is situated in the middle of Gulmarg. The beautiful temple is an example of religions intertwined with a Muslim priest performing rituals in the temple.
5. Ningli Nalla
This place is situated 10 km from Gulmarg. Ningle Nallah is a mountain stream. This place is filled with snow-capped mountains. Lush green pastures from all four sides look picturesque.
This shrine was built in the 13th century. It is situated on the slopes below Gulmarg. The Ziarat is of a well-known Muslim saint, Baba Payam-Uddin. He died here in 1480.
It is the famous stop-over in Gulmarg. It connects Gulmarg by a 13km metal road. There is an exciting 5km trekking route. During winters, warm clothes, long boots, etc. available on hire. Tangmarg is a town and tehsil in Jammu and Kashmir. In 2014 Tangmarg was granted a subdivision and was trifurcated into 3 Tehsils.

The victorian architectural wonder of the Saint Mary’s Church is located near the Golf Course in Gulmarg. It is standing tall even after 100 odd years.
